Here's an interval trainer I wrote to help you familiarize yourself with common musical intervals

If you would like to view a version of this trainer that doesn't ask questions, but simply shows you intervals, follow this link.

Hints for identifying musical intervals:

unison Is it the same note?
m2 (minor second) Are there no keys between them?
M2 (major second) Is there only one key between them?
m3 (minor third) Are there two keys between them?
M3 (major third) Are there three keys between them?
4th (fourth) Are there four keys between them?
#4/b5 (tritone) Is it three whole steps? (Six half-steps?)
5th Is it the fifth key down from the octave? (skip four down)
m6 (minor sixth) Is it the fourth key down from the octave? (skip three down)
M6 (major sixth) Is it the third key down from the octave? (skip two down)
m7 (minor 7th) Is it the second key down from the octave? (skip one down)
M7 (major 7th) Is it the first key down from the octave? (right next to it)
8va (octave) Is it the same note name?

The 12 Major Keys with Solfeggio

Memorizing the major keys, as well as their solfeggio equivalents is (in my opinion) one of the essential skills of a musician.
